La Maison Rose Art Week
10th June – 17th June 2025
We are running a painting course for one week in 2025 and have invited artist Francesca Shakespeare to lead the week in our house in Tarn et Garonne, Southwest France.
For all enquiries please mail: maison.rose@icloud.com or francesca@francescashakespeare.com
The Artist
Francesca lives and works in Oxford, dividing her time between teaching and painting.
Her experience as a teacher is wide and varied from family workshops and community projects at The Ashmolean Museum, life drawing at The Ruskin School of Art, painting days at Asthall Manor’s On Form Exhibition and part time at St Clare’s College.
In her own work, Francesca is continually experimenting with materials, textures and pigments in her studio, but is also a passionate plein air painter, finding both endless challenges and great peace through painting outdoors in beautiful surroundings.
It is this aspect of her practice that she plans to share on this course.
The Course
Francesca will focus on individual needs as well as giving demonstrations and sharing her own techniques and practices.
All standards are welcome, including beginners, more experienced participants will be encouraged to develop their painting in new directions or just work independently.
The course will run from Tuesday June 10th for a week, it is specially scheduled to straddle a weekend to allow for the Saturday market in Moissac with *lunch and the Sunday one in Montcuq during which there will be sketching, painting and some free time. Other days will be centred around the beautiful gardens, the picturesque village, and the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
Basic equipment and some materials will be provided, but painters should bring their own sketchbooks, paints, brushes and supports. A list of materials is available and we can provide artists packs on request for a small cost.
